The Week in Review | May 2 – 8, 2017
Hi friend! Yes, you. How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? If you’re struggling because today is Monday, and you just weren’t quite ready to say goodbye to Sunday yet, I get that. Totally. That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling today, too. Since yesterday sometime, I’ve been in a little funk about this new week, and I’m not really even sure why. But you know what helped earlier this morning, and is still helping now? Reminding myself that His promises are new every morning and His faithfulness is completely steadfast and unwavering. I read over these verses from Lamentations during my quiet time earlier, and am so grateful for the Hope I have that is unfazed by circumstance or fickle feelings.
This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I have hope in Him.”
PS – It’s the Monday before Mother’s Day, so consider this a little extra reminder to think about ways you can encourage and bless your mama this coming week! ?
These past seven days was nice and low-key-ish, sprinkled with fun projects and get-togethers with friends. Below are a few of my favorite highlights.
– I had the opportunity to create a piece for a silent auction fundraiser for one of our St. Pete hospital systems, and I’m really excited about the end result. I have a “and so the adventure begins” print in the shop already, done with black ink calligraphy, but there was just something about this watercolor piece that I REALLY liked. It was truly an honor to be approached about creating something, and this was actually my very first time ever donating a piece, so that was a fun learning experience!
– I got to try out a new-to-me Indian restaurant for lunch on Wednesday, and it was so good that I took Luke back the next day so he could experience it too! I’d say that we’re both not super adventurous when it comes to trying out new places because we’re those people that find a few main spots we like and just stick to those, so I was excited when my friend Kera suggested we meet for lunch there (a new place! yay!), and even more excited that Luke liked it enough to make it a new “main spot” of ours 😉
– Friday was extra wonderful because it was basically a full day of best friend time!!! Kim and I met up late-morning at SoHo Juice Co. so she could pick up her very first Acai bowl, and then we headed up the road to Crescent Lake park to hammock in the sunshine. We hadn’t planned on much more than that, but when I mentioned I had a few errands I needed to run, we quickly decided they would be better done together (DUH), and ended up spending the rest of the afternoon running all around town, to five (six? it’s all a blur) stores, picking up all the things on our lists, and a whole bunch of stuff that wasn’t…new workout pants, bits of client gifts, giant water bottles, new photo albums so we can have best-scrap-booking-dates this year, etc. I’m SO thankful that we live in the same town again, and can hang out whenever we feel like it!
– After church on Sunday and naps, Luke and I drove back over to Crescent Lake and spent the afternoon hammocking in our favorite spot, where I finished up a magazine, and started reading “Miracles” and “A Grief Observed” by C.S. Lewis. The weather was just right, and on our way to pick up some Panera soup, I mentioned how it was my favorite time of day…that sweet evening spot where the sun is starting to go down and streams of soft gold light are pouring out between cracks and buildings and leaves. It was SO relaxing! ?
How about you, friend? What did you do in the last week that was relaxing or rejuvenating? Is there anything that I could be praying for you for during this next week? Seriously, I’d love to know…You can leave a comment here (I read every one, promise) or send me a message! ❤️
